An Excellent Learning Experience is our Goal
Hannes Barnard, Director:
For many years, I have wished to own my own NDT training center where I could freely teach my students to the best of my ability, in the best facility, with the best and newest equipment, to create the best learning experience for each and every individual.
I am enthusiastic about NDT and hope to instill that enthusiasm in everyone who attends one of my classes. To do it correctly, without compromising, and to be proud of my work.
I believe I can make it happen in this training, and if you do not have an excellent learning experience, I will personally refund your fees.
We began presenting NDT courses under the banner of NASA DBN in January 2022, after being established in November 2021. NASA GP became self-sufficient in 2022. Our lecturers, Hannes, Mo, and Phil, have a combined total of the following qualifications and over 50 years of experience in NDT:
MT L3 PCN & ASNT; PT L3 PCN & ASNT; RT L3 PCN & ASNT; UT L3 PCN & ASNT; VT L3 PCN & ASNT; ED L2 ASNT, PA L3 PCN & ASNT.
Abdur-Rahman Mahomed, Director:
Before I even finished high school, I began assisting my father on various NDT jobs. This sparked my interest in the field of nondestructive testing.
My interest in NDT quickly turned into a passion, and my passion drove me to advance in NDT as a leader and mentor.
As one of the first people in South Africa to hold both an NDT degree and a Phased Array Level 3, I am now proud to give back to the NDT industry by providing Level 3 services and training the next generation of NDT practitioners in Southern Africa.
Phil Skelton, Lecturer:
I started in the NDT / construction world in 1995 as a “flagger,” and the following year I started working at an NDT company and passed MT and PT. Then, in 1997, I was given the opportunity to learn RT, a method of inspection that I adore and continue to teach to this day. Since those humble beginnings, I’ve also obtained qualifications in ET, VT, and UT. My greatest accomplishment in NDT thus far has been obtaining my Level III certification.
I’ve been teaching NDT since 2009. I enjoy instructing candidates and passing on my knowledge of NDT to others; hopefully, some of my enthusiasm rubs off through the use of humour.

After many years in various industries, including sales and manufacturing, the motor industry, furniture manufacturing, market research, and many others, I now find myself in NDT. Hannes nagged me from the first day we met to come to one of his courses, and now I’m hooked. As I approach my second semi-centennial, I am delighted to be involved in all aspects of the training center, the NDT industry, and the people. I’m glad to be here now, in this difficult environment, having to think outside the box and being able to share what I’ve learned in the past.
