Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is a revolutionary NDT technique that takes ultrasonic testing to the next level. This advanced method utilises multiple sound waves electronically controlled to allow for the inspection of complex geometries and welds, overcoming limitations of conventional UT methods. It also permits improved flaw detection with its ability to steer and focus sound waves, enhancing the detection of even minute flaws within materials. PAUT also offers faster and more comprehensive inspections compared to traditional UT techniques.
Important Note: PAUT training is designed for experienced NDT professionals with a strong foundation in ultrasonic testing principles.
What you’ll gain in a Phased Array UT training course:
- PAUT System Principles: Grasp the core concepts of phased array technology and how it manipulates sound waves for inspections.
- Probe Selection and Calibration: Learn how to choose the right PAUT probes and effectively calibrate the system for optimal performance.
- Data Acquisition and Analysis: Develop the skills to acquire ultrasonic data using PAUT techniques and analyse it to identify various flaw types.
- Reporting and Documentation: Master the process of documenting PAUT inspections and generating clear, concise reports.
Duration
- Level 2: 3 weeks (including EOC exam)
Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) is a cutting-edge ultrasonic testing (UT) method that empowers experienced NDT professionals to size even the most challenging defects within welds. This advanced technique utilises the diffraction of sound waves to achieve superior flaw detection. TOFD offers exceptional sensitivity, enabling analyses of imperfections that might go unnoticed with conventional UT methods. It also provides precise sizing information about detected flaws, crucial for ensuring structural integrity and assists in the inspection of welds, a critical component in various industries.
Important Note: TOFD training is designed for experienced NDT technicians with a strong foundation in UT principles (typically Level II certification).
What you’ll learn in a Time of Flight Diffraction training course:
- TOFD Principles and Theory: Gain a thorough understanding of the science behind TOFD and how it utilises sound wave diffraction for flaw detection.
- TOFD System Setup and Calibration: Master the proper setup and calibration of TOFD equipment for optimal performance.
- Data Acquisition and Analysis: Develop the skills to acquire and analyse TOFD data effectively, pinpointing the location and size of weld defects.
- Reporting and Documentation: Master the process of documenting TOFD inspections and generating clear, concise reports.
Duration
